Lisa at her first big book signing at Dutton's Brentwood.
My (ghostwritten) book, GUESS WHO NEEDS GLASSES? BUMPY & BOO VISIT THE EYE DOCTOR won a 2007 award from iParenting Media, thanks to the hard work and dedication of Merry Lane Press! But can someone please tell me why I so detest being interviewed with a camera in my face and a kleig light exacerbating my clamminess? Much prefer on-stage presentations with wireless mikes and invisible cameras! (Too embarrassed to post the links. You'll have to sleuth them out if you want to see them!)
Lisa & Peter having a blast signing 200 books in 1 hour at Wiley's Booth at Book Expo America June 4, 2005!
Lisa discussed the writing and publishing process for children's books at the Borders in Thousand Oaks. It was a lively and informed group, with quite a few published writers in attendance.
Our mini workshop and signing with both Lisa and Peter was fun and lively.
Listen to Peter wax poetic about our book on this PBS station! For audio: http://www.augustana.edu/wvik/listings-aboutbooks.htm
Publishing 101 for Librarians: From Submission to Publication, followed by a signing in the gorgeous Los Angeles Library book store, must have been the most fun we've had yet. What an intelligent, interesting, funny audience. Too bad Lisa's husband forgot to put the 120 copies of 15-page handouts in the back of Lisa's car—necessitating a last-minute flurry of tree destruction five minutes before the presentation (urgh!)—and thanks to Susan Patron and Eve, the Photocopy Queen, for their help and encouragement. And thank goodness Lisa didn't know they were streaming video till five minutes before when she got mike'd up. But it all went very well—and we'd do it again in a heartbeat!
Signing + giveaways!
What a great group of writers! As the featured speaker for the evening at this local SCBWI event, Lisa had a great time talking about books and the publishing business. The Ventura/Santa Barbara chapter of SCBWI has some amazing people involved in the organization!
Lisa and Peter signed books from 3:00 to 4:00 and answered children's book-related questions in this lovely independent bookstore in the Malibu Country Mart.
Join Lisa for a live radio interview with Gary Deeb, Host of Adelphia Cable and WWKB Radio.

Lisa and Peter signing books at their June 18 Launch Party at Dutton's Brentwood. Our friends and family had a great time. We signed books, nibbled munchies, and toasted with wine. Thanks to all our local supporters for attending!
Lisa and Peter signed 200 copies of their book, WRITING CHILDREN'S BOOKS FOR DUMMIES, at the Wiley Booth. There was a line for the entire hour, and we even ran out of books! Later that weekend, Lisa went by the Barnes & Noble on Fifth Avenue and 18th Street, signed the only copy they had left, and had the book added to the window display there!
Lisa and Peter's workshop with their new book, WRITING CHILDREN'S BOOKS FOR DUMMIES (Wiley, 2005) was a huge success, with over 100 attendees!
